Amazon product image requirements, made simple

Amazon’s main-image rules are strict: pure white background, the product filling most of the frame, and at least 1000 pixels on the longest side so zoom works. This page lists the requirements that decide whether your images are accepted and zoomable — and the free tool below makes correctly-sized 2000 × 2000 product photos in batches.

    Amazon main image requirements

    • Size: at least 500 pixels on the longest side to be accepted; 1000 pixels or more enables zoom — 2000 × 2000 is the standard working size.
    • Background (main image): pure white — RGB 255, 255, 255. Use the tool’s pad fit with the pad colour set to white.
    • Framing: the product should fill at least 85% of the image.
    • Formats: JPEG is preferred; TIFF, PNG and GIF are also accepted (no animated GIFs).
    • Not allowed on the main image: text, logos, watermarks, borders, props or lifestyle backgrounds — those belong in your secondary images.
    • Colour: sRGB, and the image must show the actual product accurately.

How to prep Amazon images with ShopPrep

    1. Add your product photos above — the Amazon preset (2000 × 2000) is selected.
    2. Choose pad fit and keep the pad colour pure white for main images, or crop for secondary/lifestyle images.
    3. Set a keyword filename so your image files are organised before upload.
    4. Process and download the ZIP.

    Frequently asked questions

What size should Amazon product images be?

Work at 2000 × 2000. Amazon accepts images from 500 pixels on the longest side, but zoom — which buyers use constantly — only activates at 1000 pixels and above.

Why was my Amazon main image rejected?

The usual causes: a background that is not pure white (off-white and light grey fail), text or props in the frame, the product filling too little of the image, or a file under 500 pixels.

Can ShopPrep make my background pure white?

The pad fit places your photo on a pure white (255, 255, 255) background at the correct size. It does not remove an existing background from inside the photo itself — shoot on white, or remove the background first, then pad here for a compliant frame.
