Shopify Image Resizer — free, no app to install

Shopify’s own resizer handles one photo at a time and needs you inside your store. ShopPrep resizes a whole batch to 2048 × 2048, compresses it, renames the files with your keywords, and hands you one ZIP — before you ever open Shopify admin. It also works when you sell the same products on Etsy or eBay and need every size from the same photos.

How to resize images for Shopify

    1. Add your product photos above — as many as you like.
    2. Keep the Shopify preset: 2048 × 2048 square, Shopify’s recommended product size.
    3. Choose crop for a perfectly uniform catalogue, or pad to keep every edge of the photo.
    4. Set a keyword so downloads are named for search, not IMG_2041.
    5. Process and download the ZIP, then upload in Shopify admin.

    Why square, why 2048?

Consistent square images keep collection grids aligned and product pages tidy, and 2048 pixels is large enough for sharp zoom without huge file sizes. See the Shopify image size guide.

    Frequently asked questions

What size should Shopify product images be?

2048 × 2048 pixels, square. Shopify supports larger images, but 2048 is the recommended balance of zoom quality and file size.

How is this different from Shopify’s own image resizer?

Shopify’s tool resizes single images. ShopPrep works in batches, adds thumbnail safe-zone checks, keeps your originals untouched, and downloads everything as one ZIP.

Will smaller files make my store faster?

Yes. Oversized photos are a leading cause of slow product pages. Exporting at 2048 pixels and around 85% JPG quality keeps pages fast and images sharp.

Do my photos get uploaded to ShopPrep?

No. Processing happens in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
